Current Conditions

Fishing conditions in North Alabama change rapidly. I have learned, after fishing tournaments and guiding for 25 years that you can't fish history, you have to fish the moment.
Below is a summary I have written to give you an idea of what to possibly expect.
The fishing forecast relies on the solunar calendar for its predictions. At present, the algorithm calculates a specific "score" for each minute and hour throughout the day.
JANUARY - FEBRUARY
This by far, is the best time of year to catch the biggest bass of your life. On warming trends the shallow Rat-L-Trap bite is good but by far the most consistent deal is the cranking offshore structure.
MARCH - APRIL
This is peak for spawning season and when the Bass are the shallowest of the year and most vulnerable. Soft plastic lizards and creature baits fished near hard structure is the best pattern.
MAY-JUNE
This is my favorite time of year. Big Schools of fish move out to deep structure and this is when football jigs and big crankbaits produce phenomenal stringers.
JULY -AUGUST
Guntersville sets itself apart from the rest of the country in the heat of the summer. When other lakes slow down, Guntersville keeps producing due to the abundance of aquatic vegetation and current generated by the TVA.
SEPTEMBER - OCTOBER
This time of year can be the most exciting fishing we have. Enormous schools of fish roam feeding on shad and will erupt on the lakes surface any time of day. If you like top-water fishing, this is your season.
NOVEMBER - DECEMBER
This is one of my favorite times… Cool nights and short days group the fish up and quantity as well as quality is excellent. The fish are susceptible to Rat-L-Traps, Crankbaits, and my all-time favorite
the A-Rig.
